30 years...wow!
Well since leaving CSHS, I began college at MVCC before transferring to the University of Illinois where I received my bachelor's degree in social work. I then went to UIC for my master's in social work. I first entered the work world in some pretty tough schools before coming "home" to Sandburg in 1999. I went on to get another masters and my certification in administration even though I love what I do and probably will continue to do it until I retire (or win the lottery). If all works out, by our 40th reunion I will be retired somewhere in Florida. Working at Sandburg has changed my perspective quite a bit. Wow have times changed! I would not want to be in high school in this day and age. We were very lucky!
The years between high school and meeting my husband were a blur. I know when I get older, I won't look back at my 20's and say there was much I missed. Going to Cubs games on a whim (back when tickets were cheap), going to Mexico with my best friends, skydiving, and just basically living up the singles life.
I met my husband, Eric, in 1998 and we were married in 2003 (with the majority of bridesmaids past CS softball team members). We moved into our first home in 2004 and our first daughter was born in 2006. I managed to get my husband to agree to the name Sasha Grace but waited until the ink was dry on the birth certificate to explain that I came up with Grace after Mark Grace (my husband is a sox fan). Our second child came in 2008. By this child, my husband realized that I called the shots and consented to the middle name of Addison. Forever Cubs! However, once the children came, I guess you can say things became a blur again. I'm amazed how quickly time flies when you're watching your children grow. At this stage in my life, I feel more like an uber driver taking my kids to their sports (they are both competitive swimmers on LHSC and play travel softball). In what little free time I have, I enjoy golfing and I'm on Sandburg Teacher's Bowling League. I also still get together annually with friends from the softball team for a girl's weekend/Cubs game and I try to keep in touch with my friends from the band.
